POPIA Notice

How we obtain and publish data

Last updated 14 October 2026

Sources of information

In terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA"), we disclose that the records published in the Claims Register are obtained from:

  • Active claims information furnished by insurers and surety providers in the ordinary course of business.
  • Claims and guarantee submissions made directly to us by attorneys, insurers, principals and other interested parties.

Personal information processed includes the names of entities and related persons, the nature and quantum of claims or guarantees, relevant dates, the identity of the insurer or surety, and associated notes provided to us.

Purpose of processing

The register exists so that attorneys, insurers, principals and other parties can navigate by what has been claimed before — to identify previously claimed-against sureties, related parties and patterns of conduct relevant to underwriting, litigation and recovery decisions.

Disclaimer of liability

The information in the register is provided as received from the sources described above. While we apply reasonable care in maintaining the register, Moll Quibell & Associates cannot be held liable for the veracity, accuracy, currency or completeness of any record. Reliance placed on a register entry is at the user's own risk, and the entry does not constitute legal advice or a formal certification of the matters reflected.

Correction & takedown requests

If you believe that your information — or information relating to an entity you represent — is incorrectly listed, out of date, or should be removed, you may submit a takedown or correction request by email. Please include the entity name, the specific entry concerned, the change requested, and proof of your authority to act.

Email a takedown request to info@mqlaw.co.za

We will acknowledge requests within a reasonable period and act on substantiated requests in accordance with POPIA.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to access personal information we hold about you, to request correction or deletion, and to object to processing on reasonable grounds. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
